Individuals interested in a fast-paced, exciting and social career path will excel in Hospitality and Event Management. This training builds many transferable skills and offers various opportunities for advancement within the event, food and beverage and accommodation industry. Duties will vary by workplace, but an individual in this role may oversee operations and staff, prepare schedules and coordinate event bookings, deal with customer service issues, ensure safe food and drink handling preparation and manage inventory.
The Hospitality and Event Management program provides a foundation of the practical skills and business practices necessary to succeed in a hospitality environment. Areas of study include food and beverage service and cost control, customer service skills, accounting, safety and sanitation, business practices, sales and marketing and more.
The courses in this program align with industry-defined National Occupation Standards. Graduates will meet the educational training component and 10% of the work experience required by emerit, a provider of nationally recognized Canadian hospitality and tourism certifications, to pursue seven different Tourism Certified Professional (TCP) certifications.
