Business, Accounting, Marketing Programs

  • As a skilled Medical Office Administrator, you perform a variety of administrative duties in doctor’s offices, hospitals, laboratories, clinics and other medical settings. You are the first person to greet patients and staff upon entering the clinic, and the atmosphere of your work environment is enhanced by your friendly and welcoming attitude and excellent communication skills.

    Some of your responsibilities include, being the foundation of communication within the office; planning and scheduling appointments; organizing and maintaining documents and files; managing projects; conducting research; and, providing information by use of telephone, email, and postal service. You may be required to transcribe dictation and assist physicians or medical staff with reports and conference proceedings. You may also need to be familiar with insurance rules, billing practices, and hospital or laboratory procedures according to their province.

  • As a Business Manager, you provide support to chief executive officers and management teams. You coordinate business administration procedures, perform business needs analysis, identify business opportunities and prepare business plans. Your role may include implementing efficient working processes, schedules and procedures, as well as analyzing production or other costs to create the most cost-effective business strategy. Your responsibilities range from administering, directing and coordinating day-to-day business operations and preparing progress reports for analysis, to project planning, management and operational activities.

  • As an Accounting and Payroll Administrator, you work under the general supervision of accountants within established procedures, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies. You are likely responsible for day-to-day operations including processing of accounts receivable, accounts payable, customer invoicing, and various accounts reconciliation. You may also manage government remittances including GST, QST, HST, WSIB, and source deductions. Other duties range from coordinating office administrative procedures and delegating work and deadlines, to preparing operating budgets. You calculate, prepare and distribute wages, calculate overtime and deductions, prepare and receive invoices, arrange payments, and prepare reports related to the business’ accounting activities.

  • With the Business Administration skills and experience you will gain in this program, you will have the opportunity to contribute to various business departments within companies of your choice. With your broad understanding of business practices and knowledge, you can consider working in accounting; operations; personnel or general administration; as an executive assistant; management trainee; as a sales and marketing executive and more.   • A career in logistics is in-demand and this trend is expected to grow as online sales and the requirement to move goods continue to boom. An educated logistics workforce is vital to a Canadian company’s successful strategy in managing goods and services both locally and around the globe.

    As a Supply Chain and Logistics Professional, you undertake numerous responsibilities which include: logistics coordination, transportation and freight operations; optimizing order frequency, cycles and transit options; goods delivery scheduling and tracking and expediting overdue shipments; sourcing suppliers, garnering quotes and tendering submissions; negotiating pricing, terms of delivery and other contract details; processing purchase orders, freight forwarding and other documentation; monitoring inventory levels and generating inventory reports; reconciling physical inventories and resolving material discrepancies; and, reporting loss, damage and return of goods and materials. You are eligible to work in varied environments including retail, transportation, manufacturing and production, and consulting, to name a few.

    Graduates of the program are eligible to receive the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) certification, along with membership to the Supply Chain Management Association. Possessing these credentials will set you apart from other job seekers.

  • In executive administration your roll is one of key support and as a gatekeeper for leaders within an organization or group. You assist with various administrative and organizational needs from booking appointments, overseeing schedules, and prioritizing emails, calls and inquires to preparing presentations and acting as a representative for your assigned executive.

    Upon graduation from this Executive Administration program, you’ll have the opportunity to explore positions such as executive assistant, administration professional and/or office assistant, to name a few.

  • In a health information management career you are part of a dynamic healthcare profession that is currently in high demand across the continuum of care, as patient needs continue to rise. You are trained to manage health information services, work with confidential records, use technology to capture, manage and analyze data and present health information for use in healthcare delivery and financial and management planning.

    You will have the chance to interact with medical staff, health providers, and management; you may specialize in areas such as research, management, quality improvement, risk analysis, clinical trials, and clinical financial resource integration, and maintain skills, knowledge, and expertise through mandatory Continuing Professional Education (CPE).

Education, Teaching Programs

  • As an Early Childcare Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work closely with children, parents, child educators, and other childcare providers. Assisting and participating in the day-to-day operations of a childcare center, you will contribute to a nurturing environment in which young children can thrive. While working with children, you provide support and supervision as they play, encouraging socialization and enhancing children’s self-esteem during daily activities. Beyond child interaction, you will assist with record keeping, attend staff meetings to discuss progress and opportunities for growth and support and maintain the daycare equipment and environment.

Healthcare, Wellness, Pharma Programs

  • As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will perform laboratory procedures such as preparing specimens for testing, preparing culture media and stock solutions, and recognizing problems and errors in lab procedures. You will be responsible for drawing blood, as well as logging patient samples and preparing them for testing. All while using automated equipment and computerized instruments capable of performing several tests simultaneously, as well as microscopes, cell counters, and other sophisticated laboratory equipment.

  • As a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you provide daily care to individuals who need assistance as they deal with the effects of aging, injury, or illness. As you compassionately care for and assist patients with personal hygiene, meal preparation, household management and in dealing with various ongoing conditions, you often develop close and rewarding relationships. As such, your knowledge and abilities must frequently go beyond dexterity as a PSW and encompass a deep understanding of your overall value to each client, as you perform your responsibilities and support with sensitivity and respect.

  • As a Pharmacy Technician, you work alongside pharmacists, other healthcare providers and the patient to fulfill health and drug-related needs and optimize safety. You uphold and demonstrate professional standards of practice, codes of ethics and policies, all practiced within the legal requirements of the industry. Some of your duties may include taking prescriptions in person or over the phone, preparing medications, managing inventory systems and ensuring quality patient care by giving clear and professional instructions using medical devices, and interviewing patients to obtain best possible medication history.

    In addition, you’re committed to maintaining and enhancing your personal growth, as well as your professional development, and are able to comply with the standards of a pharmacy setting by making evidence-based decisions. You also work as a liaison between the pharmacists and the public, helping set up consultations and recommendations.

  • As an Intra Oral Dental Assistant, you work chairside and receive and prepare patients for treatment. You sterilize, prepare, and set out dental instruments and materials, process x-rays, assist dentists during dental procedures and record dental procedures performed. You also educate patients, polish clinical crowns, and apply fluoride. On the technical side, you apply dental dams, pit, and fissure sealants, desensitizing agents, topical anaesthetic, and acid etch materials.

    You also take preliminary impressions for diagnostic casts and expose radiographs (x-rays). Beyond the chair, Dental Assistants may also take on an administrative role, answering telephone calls and coordinating appointment schedules, as required.

  • As a pharmacy assistant, you are a vital member of a healthcare team. You provide key support in a pharmacy environment, from preparing and distributing prescribed medications, entering orders and filling prescriptions, to ensuring that the pharmacist has verified and approved the prescription before giving the medication to the patient.

    Your excellent communication and organizational skills provide the foundation for you to take note of all relevant medical details and prescription information, count and categorize pills, verify inventory with the pharmacist and provide compassionate customer care. You may even be involved with the billing process for patients.

  • As a massage therapist you have the opportunity to play an integral role in the health and wellbeing of clients, as you guide them through various service offerings for healing and relaxation and provide massage treatments. In your day-to-day, you gather client history, including information about any injuries, conditions or concerns, develop purposeful treatment plans, massage muscles and soft tissues in order to offer relief from medical conditions or to aid in wellness maintenance. You upkeep detailed and accurate treatment records and may consult with other healthcare professionals such as physiotherapists, chiropractors, physicians, and psychologists in order to support a client’s wellness goals.

    You also have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, and exceptional interpersonal skills. You have the strength and stamina to perform massages on a diverse range of clients and can stand for extended periods of time. Your compassion for people and desire to help them experience a greater sense of wellbeing is second to none.

  • Cardiology Technology Diploma Program is registered with the Canadian Medical Association (CMA). Our aim is to prepare job-ready graduates in the area of cardiology technology, as defined by the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologist (CSCT) national occupational competency profile and industry requirements. We emphasize the importance of hands-on skills-focused training. All of our students learn about the value of patient communication and patient care as interpersonal skills are a fundamental part of being a successful Cardiology Technologist.   • Dental Radiography Course introduces the student to the basic science of radiation including its discovery, history, and modern use within the dental profession. Students are introduced to the equipment and supplies required for the various types of films and images that are utilized in the dental profession.

  • A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS) is a highly-skilled medical imaging professional within the allied health sector who utilizes their technical expertise, knowledge of human anatomy and the physical principles of ultrasound to produce diagnostic images of the body.

    Sonography is used to evaluate various parts of the body, including the abdomen, pelvis, blood vessels, developing fetus, superficial organs and structures. The quality of the sonographic examination is intrinsically linked to the skill of the sonographer who tailors the examination and interprets the sonographic findings by selectively recording anatomical images and real-time physiological information. The final diagnostic report produced by the physician is inherently reliant on the technical and intellectual skills of the sonographer.

    The primary goal of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is to provide students with didactic, laboratory, and clinical education/experiences in preparation for a health career as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. The graduate will demonstrate competency to meet the Sonography Canada examination requirements, deliver compassionate patient care, and function as an integral member of the health care team with confidence.

    Our Intra Oral Dental Assistant program is HARP approved (Healing Arts Radiation Protection) by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. This course is specifically designed for dental assistants aiming to be employed in a dental practice in Ontario, and wish to be HARP qualified in the exposure of prescribed dental radiographs.

  • Medical Radiography Technology is imaging technology used to diagnose various ailments and is the art and science of correctly positioning the patient and X-ray equipment to produce and record images for visualizing the extent of pathology (disease) or injury. It includes the use of computed tomography (CT), interventional radiology (IR), bone densitometry and mammography (breast imaging), among others.

    Our Medical Radiography Technology program trains students as medical radiologic technologists, educating them in the areas of patient care, radiation safety, computerized imaging techniques, and anatomy and pathology. It is designed to ensure graduates are responsible for the safe and competent operation of a wide range of X-ray generating machines, the production of digital images, and use of accessory medical equipment.

    Medical Radiography Technology was reviewed and approved by the registrar of the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.

  • As an orthopaedic technician, you will work directly with orthopaedic surgeons and apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints and traction equipment utilized in the care of orthopaedic patients. In addition, you will observe, monitor, report, and document changes in the patient’s physical, mental and emotional state, while providing safe, effective and quality care and support. In your position, it is essential that you have strong organizational and time management skills, the ability to work as a cohesive team member and independently, in a fast-paced environment. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a passion for caring for patients.

  • As a skilled Physiotherapist Therapy Assistant (PTA), you work under the direction of a licensed Physiotherapist. Your role consists of assisting in the treatment and prevention of physical disabilities, movement dysfunction and pain resulting from injury, disease, disability or other health-related conditions, as well as documenting the progress of customized client treatment plans.

    As an Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) you work with individuals and their families under the direction or supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. You provide rehabilitative services to people with various physical or developmental impairments, with a focus on assisting in the development of treatment plans and procedures, carrying out routine functions, directing activity programs and documenting the progress.

  • The Pre-Medical program is designed to provide students with the strong foundation needed to handle the rigorous course of study they will experience in the MD program. This course has been designed for high school graduates or college students who seek admission to a medical school and don’t meet the MD program requirements.

    Students will complete an intensive three semesters taken over one year to earn the credits and experience needed for their chosen career path. Successful students from our Pre-Medical program may progress into 5-year MD program at our partner university, St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies.

Legal, Policing Programs

  • With a diploma in Law Enforcement and Police Foundations, you have the ability to pursue a career in various areas of law enforcement.

  • As a skilled Law Clerk, you work under the direction of a lawyer and are responsible for a broad range of office procedures, with an emphasis on case and file management, time and financial management, client communication and record keeping, in compliance with professional standards. You may also assist lawyers or judges in preparing legal or court documents. Your day-to-day duties are often dictated by the environment in which you work. In a litigation office, they include filing documents with the courts, interviewing clients and witnesses, researching and drafting court documents as well as accompanying lawyers to meetings and court appearances.

    In a solicitor’s office, your duties are maintaining corporate documents, filing documents, completing real estate transactions, conducting title searches, drafting documents and doing related research. In an estate practice, you follow the steps in estate planning and support in administration and litigation, including drafting documents and preparing files for court. Overall, you have an excellent opportunity to learn about judicial processes and other areas of the law. Not surprisingly, many law clerks use their accumulated experience and knowledge to move up in the industry. There is great potential for growth and promotion, thus the need for qualified law clerks remains steady.

  • Paralegal is a licensed profession in Ontario for clients who are looking for access to cost-effective legal services. Our Paralegal Studies Diploma program prepares you for a career in this expanding field. Paralegals in Ontario now have their own scope of practice and, within these permitted areas, provide an affordable option for legal services. Paralegals may act independently in the representation of clients. Paralegals may represent clients in small claims matters; landlord/tenant matters; matters before many provincial agencies, boards, and tribunals, such as the Landlord Tenant Board and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.
