As a skilled Medical Office Administrator, you perform a variety of administrative duties in doctor’s offices, hospitals, laboratories, clinics and other medical settings. You are the first person to greet patients and staff upon entering the clinic, and the atmosphere of your work environment is enhanced by your friendly and welcoming attitude and excellent communication skills.
Some of your responsibilities include, being the foundation of communication within the office; planning and scheduling appointments; organizing and maintaining documents and files; managing projects; conducting research; and, providing information by use of telephone, email, and postal service. You may be required to transcribe dictation and assist physicians or medical staff with reports and conference proceedings. You may also need to be familiar with insurance rules, billing practices, and hospital or laboratory procedures according to their province.

In executive administration your roll is one of key support and as a gatekeeper for leaders within an organization or group. You assist with various administrative and organizational needs from booking appointments, overseeing schedules, and prioritizing emails, calls and inquires to preparing presentations and acting as a representative for your assigned executive.
Upon graduation from this Executive Administration program, you’ll have the opportunity to explore positions such as executive assistant, administration professional and/or office assistant, to name a few.
With the Business Administration skills and experience you will gain in this program, you will have the opportunity to contribute to various business departments within companies of your choice. With your broad understanding of business practices and knowledge, you can consider working in accounting; operations; personnel or general administration; as an executive assistant; management trainee; as a sales and marketing executive and more. If determined to forge an opportunity for yourself, you will have the foundation to start a business of your own.
As a Business Accounting & Payroll professional, you work under the general supervision of accountants within established procedures, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies. You are likely responsible for day-to-day operations including processing of accounts receivable, accounts payable, customer invoicing, and various accounts reconciliations. You may also manage government remittances including GST, QST, HST, WSIB, and source deductions. Other duties range from coordinating office administrative procedures and delegating work and deadlines to preparing operating budgets. You calculate, prepare and distribute wages, calculate overtime and deductions, prepare and receive invoices, arrange payments, and prepare reports related to the business’ accounting activities.
As a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you provide daily care to individuals who need assistance as they deal with the effects of aging, injury, or illness. As you compassionately care for and assist patients with personal hygiene, meal preparation, household management and in dealing with various ongoing conditions, you often develop close and rewarding relationships. As such, your knowledge and abilities must frequently go beyond dexterity as a PSW and encompass a deep understanding of your overall value to each client, as you perform your responsibilities and support with sensitivity and respect.
As a massage therapist you have the opportunity to play an integral role in the health and wellbeing of clients, as you guide them through various service offerings for healing and relaxation and provide massage treatments. In your day-to-day, you gather client history, including information about any injuries, conditions or concerns, develop purposeful treatment plans, massage muscles and soft tissues in order to offer relief from medical conditions or to aid in wellness maintenance. You upkeep detailed and accurate treatment records and may consult with other healthcare professionals such as physiotherapists, chiropractors, physicians, and psychologists in order to support a client’s wellness goals.
You also have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, and exceptional interpersonal skills. You have the strength and stamina to perform massages on a diverse range of clients and can stand for extended periods of time. Your compassion for people and desire to help them experience a greater sense of wellbeing is second to none.
As a pharmacy assistant, you are a vital member of a healthcare team. You provide key support in a pharmacy environment, from preparing and distributing prescribed medications, entering orders and filling prescriptions, to ensuring that the pharmacist has verified and approved the prescription before giving the medication to the patient.
Your excellent communication and organizational skills provide the foundation for you to take note of all relevant medical details and prescription information, count and categorize pills, verify inventory with the pharmacist and provide compassionate customer care. You may even be involved with the billing process for patients.
As an Intra Oral Dental Assistant, you work chairside and receive and prepare patients for treatment. You sterilize, prepare, and set out dental instruments and materials, process x-rays, assist dentists during dental procedures and record dental procedures performed. You also educate patients, polish clinical crowns, and apply fluoride. On the technical side, you apply dental dams, pit, and fissure sealants, desensitizing agents, topical anaesthetic, and acid etch materials.
You also take preliminary impressions for diagnostic casts and expose radiographs (x-rays). Beyond the chair, Dental Assistants may also take on an administrative role, answering telephone calls and coordinating appointment schedules, as required.
Our Intra Oral Dental Assistant program is HARP approved (Healing Arts Radiation Protection) by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. This course is specifically designed for dental assistants aiming to be employed in a dental practice in Ontario, and wish to be HARP qualified in the exposure of prescribed dental radiographs.
As a developmental service worker, you work with individuals with developmental and physical disabilities and those who deal with mental illness to promote their health and wellbeing. You interview, assess, assist, and counsel clients and their families, facilitate life skills, encourage inclusive environments, and provide personal care. Anderson’s Developmental Service Worker program meets all Provincial Standardization guidelines and outcomes.
Upon graduation you will be able to pursue work in a number of areas including (but not limited to): family support, within community or residential agencies, community organizations, private sector opportunities, transitional services or as an educational assistant or program supervisor.
In the role of Child & Youth Care with Addictions Support Worker you will work closely with children, adolescents and families as they face social, emotional, behavioural and mental health concerns and provide support for their needs. You will assess and implement appropriate prevention and intervention strategies aimed to inspire real and lasting change. You provide counsel and support, and develop strategies to foster healthy child development, address family dynamics and addiction. You will also work in close collaboration with other professionals in your field including medical and social workers, educators, correctional staff, and community partners.
Upon graduation you will be able to find work in a number of areas including (but not limited to): group homes, shelters, community centres, children’s aid agencies, youth services, addictions centres, detention centres, foster care homes, out reach or mental health programs.
