As a skilled Medical Office Administrator, you perform a variety of administrative duties in doctor’s offices, hospitals, laboratories, clinics and other medical settings. You are the first person to greet patients and staff upon entering the clinic, and the atmosphere of your work environment is enhanced by your friendly and welcoming attitude and excellent communication skills.
Some of your responsibilities include, being the foundation of communication within the office; planning and scheduling appointments; organizing and maintaining documents and files; managing projects; conducting research; and, providing information by use of telephone, email, and postal service. You may be required to transcribe dictation and assist physicians or medical staff with reports and conference proceedings. You may also need to be familiar with insurance rules, billing practices, and hospital or laboratory procedures according to their province.

As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will perform laboratory procedures such as preparing specimens for testing, preparing culture media and stock solutions, and recognizing problems and errors in lab procedures. You will be responsible for drawing blood, as well as logging patient samples and preparing them for testing. All while using automated equipment and computerized instruments capable of performing several tests simultaneously, as well as microscopes, cell counters, and other sophisticated laboratory equipment.

As a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you provide daily care to individuals who need assistance as they deal with the effects of aging, injury, or illness. As you compassionately care for and assist patients with personal hygiene, meal preparation, household management and in dealing with various ongoing conditions, you often develop close and rewarding relationships. As such, your knowledge and abilities must frequently go beyond dexterity as a PSW and encompass a deep understanding of your overall value to each client, as you perform your responsibilities and support with sensitivity and respect.
As an Intra Oral Dental Assistant, you work chairside and receive and prepare patients for treatment. You sterilize, prepare, and set out dental instruments and materials, process x-rays, assist dentists during dental procedures and record dental procedures performed. You also educate patients, polish clinical crowns, and apply fluoride. On the technical side, you apply dental dams, pit, and fissure sealants, desensitizing agents, topical anaesthetic, and acid etch materials.
You also take preliminary impressions for diagnostic casts and expose radiographs (x-rays). Beyond the chair, Dental Assistants may also take on an administrative role, answering telephone calls and coordinating appointment schedules, as required.
Cardiology Technology Diploma Program is registered with the Canadian Medical Association (CMA). Our aim is to prepare job-ready graduates in the area of cardiology technology, as defined by the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologist (CSCT) national occupational competency profile and industry requirements. We emphasize the importance of hands-on skills-focused training. Dental Radiography Course introduces the student to the basic science of radiation including its discovery, history, and modern use within the dental profession. Students are introduced to the equipment and supplies required for the various types of films and images that are utilized in the dental profession.
A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS) is a highly-skilled medical imaging professional within the allied health sector who utilizes their technical expertise, knowledge of human anatomy and the physical principles of ultrasound to produce diagnostic images of the body.
Sonography is used to evaluate various parts of the body, including the abdomen, pelvis, blood vessels, developing fetus, superficial organs and structures. The quality of the sonographic examination is intrinsically linked to the skill of the sonographer who tailors the examination and interprets the sonographic findings by selectively recording anatomical images and real-time physiological information. The final diagnostic report produced by the physician is inherently reliant on the technical and intellectual skills of the sonographer.
The primary goal of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is to provide students with didactic, laboratory, and clinical education/experiences in preparation for a health career as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. The graduate will demonstrate competency to meet the Sonography Canada examination requirements, deliver compassionate patient care, and function as an integral member of the health care team with confidence.
As a skilled Physiotherapist Therapy Assistant (PTA), you work under the direction of a licensed Physiotherapist. Your role consists of assisting in the treatment and prevention of physical disabilities, movement dysfunction and pain resulting from injury, disease, disability or other health-related conditions, as well as documenting the progress of customized client treatment plans.
As an Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) you work with individuals and their families under the direction or supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. You provide rehabilitative services to people with various physical or developmental impairments, with a focus on assisting in the development of treatment plans and procedures, carrying out routine functions, directing activity programs and documenting the progress.
As an Occupational Health and Safety professional, you will protect the physical and mental well-being of people in the workplace and drive, implement and manage health and safety initiatives to prevent work-related accidents, injuries and fatalities. Your responsibilities typically include identifying risks and hazards, creating health and safety plans and delivering training programs, investigating complaints, accidents and injuries, dealing with the Worker’s Compensation Board and disability claims, conducting ongoing inspections, and developing strategies to continuously improve workplace health and safety in a variety of environments. You are a collaborative team player and work alongside all levels of staff and management to ensure all are compliant with laws and regulations and your role contributes to the fundamental success of any organization.
