This program is designed as a single training program that replaces and consolidates HealthCare Aide and Home Support worker training. This program delivers a solid educational base to workers who provide long-term care and support service in both institution and community settings.
Personal Support Workers are an important part of the health care team. The Personal Support Worker Program enables you to develop skills required to provide personal support services to clients and their families, clients and residents in the community, at home, in hospitals and in long-term care facilities.
Services provided by the PSW include:
- assistance in routine daily living activities
- mobility
- personal care and hygiene
- ongoing medical conditions and medications
- management of household activities
The Personal Support Worker Diploma Program is an intensive 35 week program approved as a vocational program under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005, and meets all operational standards of the National Association of Career Colleges, (NACC).
This program combines instructor led training with a clinical work placement designed to prepare students for a career in health care.
