  • Program Description

    This specialized program will provide advanced office administrator training and simulated practice in the administrative responsibilities required to complement the health-care team in a private practice, clinic, hospital, or allied health-care facility in Toronto. Students will be familiar with procedures required to operate a medical office and a wide range of medical data. Workplace simulations assist students in transferring the learned skills and knowledge to the work environment. to other academic and career paths.

    Career Opportunities

    Skills learned in this medical transcriptionist program are required by hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, government health agencies, diagnostic clinics, laboratories, research and doctors’ offices, as a medical secretary, medical transcriptionist or a medical unit clerk.

    Placement

    As a mandatory component of our medical unit clerk program, all students are required to complete an off-site externship placement. Placements occur at various business locations throughout the communities. This essential module allows students to exercise the skills learned in class, learn specific applications and to further enhance their learning experience in the selected facilities.

    As an Early Childcare Assistant, you would assist and participate in the day to day operations of a childcare centre. You would help to provide a nurturing, caring environment in which young children can thrive and offer a professional approach while observing and guiding children throughout the day.     Admission Requirements

    HEALTH CARE AIDE NEW ADMISSION REQUIREMENT FOR ESL STUDENT WITH NO HIGH SCHOOL IN ALBERTA Academic English Language Arts (ELA) • Grade 11, 20-2 level course, with a minimum score of 60% achieved or Canadian jurisdiction equivalent; or • English 20-1 with a minimum of 60% achieved or Canadian jurisdiction equivalent; or • English 30-1 or 30-2 with a minimum of 55% or Canadian jurisdiction equivalent; or • Deemed equivalent by completion of ACCUPLACER (assessment placement test) Note: Students who have not completed the ELA, 20-2 level requirement and achieved the minimum grade are subject to completing the ACCUPLACER assessment test. This can include students out of province, out of country or mature students that have been out of school for a significant length of time. English Language Proficiency (ELP) Candidates where English is a Second Language (ESL) must meet the English Language Proficiency requirement in addition to the Academic English requirement. Equivalencies are as follows: • Required Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of a minimum of 7 in each of the 4 language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) and not an average of 7; OR • By completing high school in Canada. Notes Test Currency: results must have been obtained within two years of the start date of the program. Test Validity: IELTS (Academic) and TOEFL results are valid for two years from the day of testing. Results that expire prior to the Start Date of the program will not be accepted.     Practicum

    Practicum 1 80 Hours Course 5 will be taken as first practicum experience Under this course, students will work under the direction of a regulated health-care professional, learners will work in a continuing care setting such as home care, supportive living, designated supportive living (DSL) a seniors lodges, or group home, providing person-centred care and support for clients and their families Practicum 11 160 Hours During the first clinical placement, you will experience the role of the health care aide by working under the direction of a regulated health-care professional LPN/RN. You will have the opportunity to work in a variety of health-care settings such as continuing care or acute care. Providing person centred care and support for clients and their families Consolidated practicum 80 Hours This is the final clinical placement course where you will practise the role of the health care aide by working under the direction of a regulated health-care professional and buddied/paired with an unregulated health-care professional. Legal, Policing Programs

  • Program Description

    Get a practical education to become a legal assistant or legal administrative assistant with Legal Office Administration program, which provides you with the essential knowledge and skills you’ll need to do the job well. You will learn the theory and procedures associated with real estate, litigation and corporate law.
