The part-time Activity Assistant Program is offered as a complement to the Health Care Assistant Diploma allowing graduates to expand their skills and knowledge to support seniors in recreation and leisure activities. Activity/Recreation Assistants plan and implement individual and group activities under the supervision of individuals such as Activity Coordinators and Recreational Therapists. Their primary goal is to enhance the clients’ quality of life through a focus on meaningful activity and recreation such as crafts, games, exercise, and other social and cognitive activities.
Community Support Workers are an integral part of the social services offered in our community. They focus on empowering those with developmental disabilities and/or dual diagnosis and promoting the development of their mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Supports offered include life skills training, positive behavioral support, crisis intervention, companionship, partaking in recreational activities, and some personal care as required. Drake Medox College’s CSW 6-month training program is offered in a combination of online and in-class learning by highly experienced and qualified instructors who will prepare and assist you in securing rewarding employment upon graduation.
