Business, Accounting, Marketing Programs

  • Individuals in an Accounting and Payroll department are typically responsible for preparing and processing bills, invoices, accounts payable and receivables, budgets and other financial records. This program provides students with hands-on training in bookkeeping, database management, and accounting software used by Canadian employers. Areas of study include accounting principles and practice, computerized accounting, managerial accounting, payroll administration, spreadsheets and data management. The Payroll Compliance Legislation course will be taken online through the Canadian Payroll Association. Upon completion of that course, the student will have completed 2 of 3 courses required to earn a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP).  I
  • Medical Office Administrators perform a variety of administrative and clinical duties. Individuals in this role may be responsible for scheduling and confirming appointments, preparing medical documents, charts and requisition forms, maintaining confidential medical files and records, performing or setting up for minor medical procedures such as taking blood pressure or measuring height/weight.

    This program provides an overview of medical office principles, practices, and operations with a focus on developing medical office assistant skills. Areas of study include medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, computer applications, and medical office scheduling and billing software.

    Certificates featured in the Medical Office Administration course: Vital Signs Clinic, First Aid and CPR.

  • This program is available on campus, completely online, and in our hybrid Flex-Ed format. 

    A diploma in Business Administration is by far the most flexible kind of college training. Students can start careers in many different business roles, including accounting, sales, marketing, and administrative support.

    This Business Administration program provides an overview of business principles, practices, and operations with a focus on communications and administrative skills. Areas of study include accounting, database applications, sales and marketing.

Creative Arts, Interactive, Sound Programs

  • 2D animation has been around since the 1800’s and involves creating two-dimensional characters, backgrounds and storyboards. 2D animation has evolved from using hand drawn images to using computer-based software such as Toon Boom Harmony, Adobe Flash and After Effects to create and edit images, but it still plays an important role in the world of animation today. This program provides a well-rounded curriculum and prepares students with the skills and competencies needed to pursue a career in TV, movie production and more. Areas of study include introduction to animation and animation software, arcs, anticipation, drawing, posing, character rigging, character animation and more. Program length: 12 months (20 hours/week) includes 6 week internship

Healthcare, Wellness, Pharma Programs

  • A career in Occupational Health and Safety focuses on the physical and mental well-being of employees. Individuals in this role work to minimize risks and workplace hazards, and protect the health of workers. They ensure safe workplace environments aim to prevent departures of workers due to health related issues caused by work conditions. This program provides an overview of safety and workplace health principles and focuses on best practices in ergonomics, hygiene and worker health and wellness. Areas of study include hazard recognition, safety audit analysis, environmental issues, fire protection, laws, ethics, risk management. The Occupational Health and Safety Officer program at Herzing College is approved by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to take a certification exam that leads to the Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) Certification. In addition, graduates that accumulate four years of work experience in the industry will also be eligible to take the exam that leads to a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Certification. Both certifications are widely recognized and sought after by many organizations hiring safety professionals across Canada.
  • The attitude, abilities and approach of Personal Support Workers are critical to the well-being and health of the people they support. Individuals in this role are generally responsible for assisting clients in homes/apartments in the community, and long-term care facilities with tasks of daily living. They must provide not only for the comfort, safety and well-being of their clients, but also demonstrate sensitivity and respect for those in their care. This program teaches students the necessary knowledge and practical skills for employment as Personal Support Workers in a home or apartment in the community or in a long term care facility. Areas of study include interpersonal skills, safety, abuse, household management and meal preparation and assisting a personal with personal hygiene. Human & Social Services, CSW Programs

  • Community Services Workers may interview, counsel, and assist clients to deal with personal and social problems. They may also organize and implement a variety of community programs and services. Individuals in this role may be responsible for preparing intake reports, referring clients to other social services, admitting clients to appropriate programs, and meeting with clients to evaluate treatments/plans and progress.

    This program provides students with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to provide many types of assistance to people in the community. Areas of study include addictions, psychology, sociology, mental health, Canadian family dynamic, professional skills, counselling and interviewing techniques, business communications and report writing.

    Program length: 12 months, includes 8 week internship

Legal, Policing Programs

  • Law Clerks play an important role in the legal profession, working directly under the guidance of a Lawyer. Law Clerks are responsible for routine legal and administrative work, and may assist a Lawyer with more complex legal matters. Law firms, government offices and legal departments employ Law Clerks to offer services to their clients at lower costs. This program provides an overview of legal principles, practices and procedures. Areas of study include legal office procedures, Corporate Law, Wills and Estates, Family Law, Real Estate, Litigation and the practical application of Law Clerk responsibilities.
  • Paralegals are non-lawyers providing legal services in specified areas of practice to the public for a fee. The type of work that a licensed paralegal can perform is limited by the Law Society and this program is restricted to those areas of law. This program, accredited by the Law Society of Ontario, prepares graduates to apply to the Law Society of Ontario to become licensed paralegals. Areas of study include Understanding Statutes and By-Laws, Torts and Contracts, Evidence and the Litigation Process, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Small Claims Court, Tribunal Practice, Provincial Offences/Motor Vehicle Offences, Criminal Summary Conviction Procedures and Ethics.

Technology, Networking Programs

  • Computer Network Technicians establish, operate, maintain and co-ordinate the use of networks, software, hardware, and related computer equipment. Individuals in this role typically troubleshoot and provide IT support, install and maintain software, monitor network security, and perform back up operations. This program provides skills, knowledge and practical experience to work effectively in positions including technical support, computer maintenance/repair, hardware/software installation and network administration. Areas of study include COMPTIA (A+, Net+, and Linux+), MCP, MCTS, MCSA, MCSE and CCNA. The cost of the A+ certification is included in the course.
  • Demand for cybersecurity talent has risen sharply and statistics expect that number will rise to 3.5 million by 2021. In just 12 months, our Certificate in Cybersecurity Foundations will prepare you for a career in cybersecurity and help you earn your Associate of (ISC)² designation.

    The curriculum aligns with the Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) Exam body of knowledge and covers all seven-fundamental building block of cybersecurity; Access Controls, Security Operations and Administration, Risk Identification, Monitoring, and Analysis, Incident Response and Recovery, Cryptography, Network and Communications Security and Systems and Application Security.

    WHAT YOU’LL GET FROM THE CERTIFICATE IN CYBERSECURITY FOUNDATIONS

    This certificate explores the fundamental knowledge required to help you be a more effective IT practitioner and to more effectively support various IT teams within your organization.

    Students who plan to earn the SSCP designation can use this program to prepare the SSCP exam and obtain Associate of (ISC)² designation.
