Business, Accounting, Marketing Programs

  • The objective of the Medical Office Assistant program is to allow students to acquire satisfactory skills and demonstrate competence in a variety of medical office administration and clinical skills.

    Administration skills include bookkeeping, billing and collection, records management, patient data collection, typing, transcription, word processing, appointment scheduling, written correspondence and telephone techniques.

    Clinical skills include patient preparation simple diagnostic procedures such as vital signs and collection of specimens.

    Students are encouraged to achieve a "Certified Medical Secretary" certificate through the Ontario Medical Secretaries Association. All examinations are a t the option and expense of the student.

Healthcare, Wellness, Pharma Programs

  • The PSW Program is 700 hours in length, and consists of two important components: Theory and Practicum
    • Theory: Approximately 28 weeks, with 25 hours per week, delivered on a full-time basis, during the day or in the evenings.
    • Practicum: Students complete 310 hours of on-job training, in accordance with guidelines set by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities
    The Practicum enables students to apply their skills and knowledge, acquired during in-class training, to the workplace as students-in-training.
    • Practicum placements take place in Community Settings and Long-Term Care Facilities
    • The required shifts may be scheduled according to student availability and program requirements
    • Full Time Classes are held Monday to Friday

History

New Skills College of Health, Business & Technology is registered and approved Private Career College with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

Formerly, New Skills Health College (formerly New Skills Vocational School) is a recognized leader in training Health Care Personnel. N.S.H.C. has been delivering a provincially recognized Certified Health Care Aide Program in various locations throughout Ontario since 1981, with hundreds of graduates each year.

NSC was established since established more program offerings, including the PSW Bridging Program and the Medical Office Assistant diploma programs.  The Food handler Certification Training was added in early 2009 to train food service employees of restaurants, cafeterias and catering companies; as well as Personal Support Workers, Dietary Aides, ECE Workers, Day Care Providers, Home Care Workers, Nannies, etc.

New Skills College of Health, Business & Technology is always developing new programs to help meet the needs of the global community.
