Culinary Arts Programs

  • FSW- Food Service Worker program is a 400 hours Diploma that will provide students with the knowledge and skills to be effective members of an inter-professional health care team.  This diploma is mandated by the Ontario government for those who wish to gain employment in the dietary departments of hospitals, long term care facilities, retirement homes, group homes and other health care settings. Or in any other establishment that prepare food in large quantities. The course was developed to meet the Ministry of health and Long Term Care regulations; the Food Service Course meets the standards of employer’s requirements. Through the incorporation of theory and practical experience the students will learn the roles and responsibilities of the food Service Worker in a variety of food service operations. The curriculum focuses on interacting effectively with clients and coworkers, nutritional principles and requirements throughout the life cycle, quantity food preparation, safe food handling techniques, food service sanitation and safety procedures, proper use and care of kitchen equipment and institutional food service systems including purchasing, receiving, production, inventory, delivery and service. The FSW course modules:

Healthcare, Wellness, Pharma Programs

  • Developmental Service Worker Diploma program prepares students for a satisfying career working with Children, youth and adults who have developmental disabilities. As a Developmental Service Worker, you’ll be responsible for advocating for your clients while ensuring they have the skills, resources, and support needed to be involved, supported members of their community.

    The courses will focus on disabilities, mental health, interpersonal skills, counseling, health, pharmacology, teaching and intervention strategies.

    Graduates are positioned to work in a wide variety of residential, community and educational settings. Work settings include elementary and secondary schools, private homes, recreational programs, community residences, adult life skills programs. Graduates may also work with people who require behavioral support, as well as with those who experience mental illness or brain injury.

  • This program is designed to transition individuals who are nurses and healthcare workers with foreign training into the Canadian workforce. It also is ideal for any previously Canadian-educated nurses, health care aides, or personal support workers, who have either been out of the workforce for a while, or who want a refresher before re-entering the healthcare field. Because this program comes with 2 practicum placements, individuals can quickly upgrade and refresh their skills, then receive hands-on training with 2 different practicum locations, in order to accelerate their return to employment

    Admission Requirements

    • Health Care Aide – Canadian Graduate
    • Home Support Worker – Canadian Graduate
    • Personal Support Worker – Canadian Graduate
    • Nurse or Registered Nurse – Domestic or Foreign Trained with Degree in Nursing
    • Practical Nurse: Registered Practical Nurse (RPN); Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Domestic or Foreign Trained
    • Grade 12 or equivalent admission requirement, in addition to Medical Certificate of Fitness and Immunization Status to complete the program.
    • Literacy Test to be completed by all applicants.
    • Clear police records check and Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid and Basic Rescuer CPR prior to starting the Clinical Placement.

    Program Length:

    Total Program hours: 350 hours
    • In-school Theory & Practice 195 hours
    • Clinical Placement – Community 55 hours (Skills Passbook completed)
    • Clinical Placement– Facility 100 hours (Skills Passbook completed)
