Skilled Trades, Auto, Fire Programs

  • Are you interested in working as a Welder or Welder Inspector? Our in-depth program offers solid coverage of welding theory and practical modules to prepare students for employment as Welders and Welding Inspectors. The program curriculum consists of Level 1 inspection courses and the major welding processes of GMAW, GTAW, MCAW, and SMAW. For detailed information, call our campus now! Particular emphasis is placed on the Practical Hands-on modules of the program and includes 714 hours of practical lab training to prepare you for industry testing and employment. At the successful conclusion of the program students will be eligible to complete 8 welding tests, choosing those which best support their individual career path. Students may choose their tests from both CWB and TSSA. Welder Qualification Tests: CWB and/or TSSA- 8 tests in total are included. Note: The Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) requires testing in the following sequence: flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead. Program Delivery:  The program is taught by qualified and certified welders with industry experience.
  • This course is for welders looking to upgrade their STICK (all positions) and FCAW (all positions) techniques. Course will also provide advanced understanding of various types of stick rod usage and operation skills. This course offers flexible scheduling (days or weekends) up to 35 hours in duration.
  • The Automotive Technology (pre-apprenticeship) diploma program will prepare you for your career in automotive service and repair. The Automotive Technology program is a blend of theory and practice with an emphasis on practical hands-on learning delivered in our 2000 square foot on-site workshop. Students will learn the terminology and application of automotive mechanic tools, the operational theory, principles and functions of all automotive engineering systems and the importance of compliance with the industry health and safety regulations. As well, students will gain an understanding of the importance of providing excellent customer service; communicating effectively and the routine tasks involved in the daily operation of an automotive service technician business. Articulation – Credit Transfer Graduates of the SCBT Automotive Technology program may articulate to Canadore College of Applied Arts & Technology and receive a credit transfer of 39 credits towards the completion of the Canadore College 1.5 year Motive Power Technician Ontario College Diploma Program. (Articulating students must meet the admission requirements of Canadore College) Diploma to Degree Pathway  Graduates of the Canadore College 1.5 year Motive Power Technician may be eligible for advanced standing/exemptions for credit transfer to University.
  • The CNC/MasterCAM diploma training program prepares our graduates for a career within Canada’s growing industrial community. Upon the successful completion of the CNC/MasterCAM training program graduates will understand and be able to apply Computerized Numerical Control technology (CNC) from the introduction of CNC programming to advanced applications. As well, graduates will be able to develop CNC programs for a variety of machines, such as drills, mills, machining centers and lathes, using verifiable manual and computerized methods. The focus of the program is on practical industrial applications and problem solving using a professional approach. Articulation– Credit Transfer Graduates of the SCBT CNC/MasterCAM program may articulate to Canadore College of Applied Arts & Technology and receive a credit transfer of 24 credits towards the completion of the Canadore College 42 week Machinist-Mechanical Technician Ontario College Diploma Program. (Articulating students must meet the admission requirements of Canadore College.)
  • The Gas Technician diploma program is taught using official TSSA curriculum which prepares students for the TSSA (Technical Standards and Safety Authority) Gas Fitter 3 and Gas Fitter 2 licensing examinations. The Gas Technician curriculum is delivered via lectures and practical hands-on workshops offering the advantage of practical application of lecture material. Evaluation techniques involve written and practical tests, and assignments. Our Gas Technician program is delivered by our dedicated instructors who are certified Gas Fitters experienced in both teaching and working in the Gas Technician field. As an added benefit, Stanford International College is an approved TSSA examination centre for the G3 and G2 licensing examinations.   • The HVAC Technician program delivers the components of the TSSA G3 and G2 curriculum up to the level of  licensing* required in the Fuels industry. In addition the program covers the foundations of Air Conditioning, the Principles of Residential and Commercial design and HVAC safety including Ozone Depletion Prevention training. Delivery of course material combines instructor led lectures with supervised workshops providing hands-on experience to prepare students for industry service requirements including diagnosis and procedures. Upon graduation, the student will be able to Install, troubleshoot and overhaul heating, ventilation, air handling and air conditioning systems. *To be eligible for employment as a licensed Gas Technician, students must successfully complete the TSSA G3 and G2 examinations. Examinations are held at Stanford College.
  • The Industrial Electrician (PLC & Robotics) Diploma program is designed to provide our students with the knowledge and tools required to work in the field of industrial automation and control. Supported by computers to interface with the systems and equipment, students are introduced to the Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) of OMRON, Allen Bradley and SIEMENS programming systems, and Robotics hardware. Students will also learn electrical basics, applicable Electrical Codes and use AutoCAD to create electrical drawings.  Upon graduation, the student will be able to read and create electrical drawings, design, install, and maintain electronic equipment used in modern industrial processes, and work on every type of programming system, from the simplest fuses and motors to sophisticated electronic computer interface boards, motor drives, programmable logic controllers, solid-state devices and robotics.

Technology, Networking Programs

  • The Industrial Automation diploma program is designed to provide our students with the knowledge and tools required to work in the rapidly expanding field of industrial automation and control. Supported by computers to interface with the systems and equipment, students are introduced to the Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) of OMRON, Allen Bradley and SIEMENS programming systems and Robotics hardware.
