ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE PROFESSIONAL

Description: This diploma is a 27-week program delivered in-class. The College has included an additional 14 weeks to allow for illness, vacations and other course interruptions. The program is therefore required to be completed within 41 weeks. Diploma admissions are on a rolling basis.

The diploma is offered with a core component and a specialty elective.

Students are required to select a specialty from amongst five electives, each focusing on specific business areas. The electives include Book-keeping, Marketing, Business Executive, HR Applications and Medical.

The core component provides students with strong secretarial, word processing and office skills, specifically, students learn to: • Compile budget data/documents based on estimated revenues/expenses and previous budgets • Calculate costs of materials, overhead, and other expenses based on estimates, quotations, and price lists • Respond to customer questions, maintain good customer relations, and solve problems • Perform other duties such as word processing, maintaining filing/record systems, faxing, and photocopying.

4. HR Applications • 360-degree feedback • Recruiting and Retention
5. Medical • Medical Terminology – Basic and Advanced • OHIP Billing
