MEDICAL LABORATORY ASSISTANT

Gain Lab Assistant Knowledge

The Medical Laboratory Assistant program consists of both practical and theoretical studies in order to prepare you for your future work environment. Learn medical terminology, clinical chemistry, and laboratory mathematics in the medical lab assistant courses. Gain a fundamental understanding of chemistry and biology in the form of laboratory microbiology and blood studies through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on experimentation. Anatomy, physiology, quality assurance, and safety procedures are also important components to the Medical Laboratory Assistant program.

 

Hands-on Medical Laboratory Assistant Experience

 

Complete a practicum through the program and work under the supervision of a Medical Laboratory Technologist. Work alongside Medical Laboratory Technicians on your team as well.

Academic Requirements for Admissions:

 

 

  • High school graduation or equivalent*
  • Completion of English 11 or equivalent*
  • Keyboarding 40 wpm
  • Criminal record check (in accordance with the Criminal Records Review Act)
  • Up-to-date immunication report (form provided by college)

*ICS report required if from a country where English is not the primary language.

This program has been approved by the registrar of the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training.
